Supervisor
for Brcko district
Mr. Raffi Gregorian visited ARKA's Sanctuary
for dogs and cats, which is being built on location in ex-military
base McGovern.
In the conversation held with president of
ARKA Branka Pasko, supervisor saw detailed concept off Sanctuarys
work and project solution for stray dog problem in Brcko district.
By that occasion he gave 100 euros as a donation and called for
other citizens and other businesmens to support this project

Gipsy |

This
simpatic and very smart female named Gipsy, for months has roamed
thru Brcko district streets truing to find someone who would take
off a roap so tightly chained around her neck that made deep pustule
wound in her skin. Unfortunatly because of that wound, around her,
a very unpleasent scent was spreading and everytime she came close
to someone in hope she will get help, she got chased away because of
the fear of some disease.Luckuly one day in the middle of October we
noticed her and called her to help her. She came toward us and gave
us chance to take the tight roap from her neck, after which we
acomadated her in Sanctuary where her heatlh soon improved....

ARKA started
with Brcko district action of removal and rehoming of stray dogs
into Basil |

Street/stray
dogs of Brcko district which were catched by the workers of society
ARKA, before aconodation in to dog sanctuary, were driven in
ambulance of public veterinary entr. Where they were examined and
sterilized/spayed. Operations were done by our co-operator
veterinarian Andrija Dakovic with assistence of Brcko district

The Visit of RSPCA representatives |

Mr.
Thomas Gareth from RSPCA-(Royal Society for the Protection of
Cruelty to Animals)/Grate Britain, visited animal welfare society
ARKA in Brcko district, aiming for information obtaining on ARKA's
work and ARKA's project
solution for
stray dog problem which is being realized in the colaboration with
Brcko district Govenment.
During
the time of his visit, meeting with Brcko district officials, Mr.
Anto Domic and MR. Adnan Pasalic was held. After the meeting Mr.
Gareth visited dog sanctuary (Basil) in ex-military base McGovern
which is under construction...

Bilboards are on the streets! |

In
colaboration with government of Brcko District on «Bulevar Mira»
bilboards are set up, thru those bilboards citizens of Brcko
district-dog owners are boing called for responsible ownership, to
registrate their dogs and mark them with micro-chip and pendant.
Free of charge micro-chip marking with free against rabies dog
vacinnation can be done in public veterinary service, and for free
collar and registracion pendant should assigne in offices of animal
welfare society ARKA in DELTA business block.

and tags free of charge |

ARKA animal protection and welfare
society procured a dog collars and tags which will be (free of
charge) delivered to all dog owners in Brcko District during the
survey. The data which will be collected during the survey will be
used for the salving of stray dog and cat problem in Brcko District.

Construction
started- building of fence around dog and cat Shelter in McGovern's
base |

|
Animal protection and welfare
society ARKA presented a project for dog and cat shelter in McGovern
base, and Brcko District Government decided to aid construction of
that Shelter. In that manner, need for fence constructor was
announced on public bid. The best bidder was company "ADEA" and
promptly started with fence construction.

Free
Micro Chipping and tagging of all dogs in Brcko District |

 In
striving to solve stray dogs and cats problem, Representatives of
ARKA animal protection and welfare society held couple of meetings
with relevant authorities in Brcko District Government. Conclusion
was that Brcko District Government must apply modern and humane
model that meets law regulations of B&H. Following those principles,
Mayor made a decision regarding obligation of marking all dogs
(free
of charge) by most reliable method- Micro chipping, and also he
announced as necessary free vaccination against Rabies.

Project
Proposal -The Vision of sanctuary for stray dogs and cats, in ex
base McGovern |
|

|
 BaZIL-
In
cooperation with architects from Novi Sad and New York, vision of
future dog and cat shelter in ex military base McGovern is produced,
named shelter will be under ARKA's management. Sanctuary will be
placed on 19000sqare meters and will be composed of
administration/manager building, quarantine and Delta House made
from bale straw- where dogs will be placed.

ARKA signed the contract with Brcko District government |
|

|
 Because
of the more common problem of stray dogs witch represent a serious
health and communal problem and can often in danger citizens and
their property, Government of Brcko District decided to give on use
a land property witch is located in ex-military base McGovern, to
the animal protection and welfare society ARKA for building a
sanctuary for stray dogs and cats. Contract about property gifting,
for the government of Brcko District was signed by Mayor Mirsad
Djapo, and in front of society ARKA signed by President Branka Pasko.

LOCATION FOR STRAY DOGS&CATS SHELTER

ARKA required
from Government of Brcko District B&H, to be given a land/property
for building a stray dog and cat shelter. By our appeal commission
from urbanism and proprietary relations and economy development,
inspected location in ex military base McGovern and took all
necessary information's to give approval for building stray dog and
cat shelter.

SHOOTOUT
ON STRAY DOGS AND CATS
|

|
Citizens from Ugljevik come in contact with
ARKA with plea to help them and do all in our power to stop illegal
and dangerous actions of shooting from fire weapons on stray dogs
and cats to kill them. Local authorities in Ugljevik for years are
trying to solve stray cats and dogs problem by using fire weapons in
populated areas, and it's a true miracle that no one from citizens

VISIT
TO A VET. STATION |

ARKA's co-operators Mila Bijic Erski and
veterinian Andria, visited Vet station and talked with MR. Milan
Radic about epizotiolist situation in Brcko District and about other
questions related to animal health protection. We come to conclusion
that cooperation between society ARKA and Vet Station is very
important and can benefit in solving stray cats & dogs problem.

MEETING
WITH PRESIDENT OF BRCKO DISTRICT |

ARKA initiated a meeting with Milan Tomic
president of Brcko District Assembly,
The cause of meeting was Brcko District's stray dogs and cats
problem solving.
We agreed that Brcko District Government is obligated to provide a
service for removal of stray dogs on modern and humane way by
following law regulations, and that funds for solving named problem
must be included in budget for 2005.

ANGEL VISITED ARKA |

ARKA neuters relationship with organization Animals Angels witch
deals with live animal transport problems and with improvements of
living conditions for animals on animal markets.
Our colleagues from Slovenia and Germany , Tea
and Christine visited us in Brcko District while they were traveling
to control transports of live animals imported in EU countries

MEETING WITH WORK GROUP IN BRCKO DISTRICT GOVERNMANT |

In
the name of Brcko District's stray dog and cat problem, and striving
to find ways by witch this problem will be solved thru valid law
regulations and European norms, ARKA and work group had organized a
meeting in Brcko District Government. ARKA's President Branka Pasko
pointed how complex this problem is, that it must be seen in wider
range and that only humane and modern methods can be condoned witch
will put under control stray dog and cat population. In discussion
how to solve named problem, accent was on necessity and importance
of cooperation between Brcko District Government and nongovernmental
sector.
